The use of electromagnetic energy in the form of Microwave and RF can provide unique solutions to a select group of heat-process applications.
In the simplest form, the technology can provide volumetric heating to accelerate a process. The molecular displacement of dipoles in a changing electric field allows frictional heat to be generated at the point of each molecule. This mechanism provides an advantage over conventional thermal methods as it is not limited by inherent material conduction properties and does not require a high surface temperature for rapid heat up.
RF or Microwave energy can provide for continuous preheating, moisture removal and profiling, drying of coatings and finishes and dye setting of natural and synthetic fiber products.
The benefits can include substantially shorter drying times, lower product process temperatures, improved dyestuff retention, reduced labor costs, material savings, less floor space and energy savings.
When used in combination with other conventional heat sources, the synergistic effect can provide even greater benefits.
