Foundry Products

The use of Microwave and RF technologies to enhance the casting process has been well documented.  Sand core drying, lost foam pattern drying, binder curing and de-waxing of investment castings are just some of the applications where this unique technology has been used.

Electromagnetic or “EM” energy (Microwave and RF) offers the significant benefit of volumetric heating with responsive materials.  The ability to quickly generate heat in a product on a molecular level throughout the cross-section negates the limitations of heat transfer in inherently poor thermal conductors.  The benefits are shorter heat up times, better uniformity, greater throughput and lower energy usage.

Additionally, with certain products, the application of high temperature for conventional rapid heating of a product results in high surface temperatures.  This can cause potentially hazardous effluent to form, creating a need for additional air scrubbing equipment.

For drying, the synergy between EM energy and treated air can offer greater benefits in speed and quality than either technology by itself can provide.  The synergistic effect is not necessarily limited to conditioned air but may encompass other heat sources.
